Getting a good night sleep in variable conditions with a minimum of weight requires a sleep system that is flexible and incorporates as many multi-use components as possible.
My current system incorporates the following:
- mont helium sleeping bag with 300g of 800+ loft down;
- SOL escape bivvy bag;
- long sleeve thermal top and thermal longs;
- down jacket;
- beanie;
- neck warmer;
- Gossamer Gear thinlight insulation Pad 1/8";
- Thermarest XLite sleeping mat.
When I use this system for bivvying I add a polycryo ground sheet to protect my sleeping mat and keep my gear clean.
