Lightweight sleep system

Getting a good night sleep in variable conditions with a minimum of weight requires a sleep system that is flexible and incorporates as many multi-use components as possible.

My current system incorporates the following:

  • mont helium sleeping bag with 300g of 800+ loft down;
  • SOL escape bivvy bag;
  • long sleeve thermal top and thermal longs;
  • down jacket;
  • beanie;
  • neck warmer;
  • Gossamer Gear thinlight insulation Pad 1/8";
  • Thermarest XLite sleeping mat.

When I use this system for bivvying I add a polycryo ground sheet to protect my sleeping mat and keep my gear clean.
