How do I remove the optical gear indicator?

There are two small phillips head screws that you'll need a jewellers screwdriver to remove. Once they are removed, you twist the optical indicator counter-clockwise about an eighth of a turn and it will disengage from the shifter. Underneath the optical gear indicator is a blanking off plate that you use. It is secured using one of the small screws that you removed taking the gear indicator off.

How much does the optical gear indicator weigh?

It weighs 12g. Removing it brings the shifter weight down to 123g.
