Making your own gear (MYOG)

For me, MYOG is a big part of getting what I want with as little compromise as possible. I'd never make something if I can buy something that's better, but for specialist gear and equipment you're really stuck with making it yourself. It's also an incredibly rewarding thing to do - you inevitably learn something when you make anything.
